Sat with Michael to review that and now I understand it cannot work: to sum up
the changed code:
 - is not used to reconstruct the ICS from XML (and even then we would need to
distinguish between at least the author who also needs to retrieve it for
editing and other users)
 - is only used to store the XML representation of each event (unused ATM but
anyway)
